Mystery Wine Revealed: 2010 Lava Cap, Petite Sirah

Ever met a full time clown? This week William Shatner sat down with one of our most unique guests yet. He's Richie the Barber, Professional Clown.

So let's review. Besides the fact that we know Richie clearly liked it, our mystery wine this week is the 2010 Lava Cap Petite Sirah.

The Lava Cap Petite Sirah is an award winning wine. It's received several accolades at various festivals and competitions which isn't surprisingly at all. Lava Cap is a family owned winery in Placerville, California with an interesting story. When the founders, David and Jeanne Jones wanted to start a vineyard they were looking for a very specific place to do that. David was a very successful geologist and chose the location because of it's prime volcanic soil which also helps explain the name, Lava Cap. According to their website, "Their winemaking philosophy is to express the elegant and complex varietal character from each block of the family's vineyards." To learn more about Lava Cap, visit their website or click here for a more in depth look at the origins of their thriving winery.
