Mystery Wine Revealed: 2010 Sierra Vista, Grenache

This week, William Shatner sat down with actress, model and former Miss South Carolina, Courtney Hope Turner!

Let's review! The wine Courtney and William enjoyed together was the 2010 Sierra Vista, Grenache.

The outdoor setting in this episode was a perfect pairing for this picnic wine. It's barrel fermentation in an older oak explains is complexity and smooth finish.  While it's definitely a summer wine, the 2010 Sierra Vista Grenache is a beautiful wine for a beautiful guest.

Grenache, Estate Rayas Vineyard

The vines growing the grapes are said to have indirectly come from the Chateau Rayas Vineyard in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape AVA in the southern Rhone Valley of France. We have been growing Grenache since the late 1980’s and using it as a blending varietal in our Fleur de Montagne. Now that we have this Rayas block we are offering it as a varietal. It is a lovely ruby color with very characteristic aromas of black cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit, spice cake and a hint of pepper. It is great with many different dishes such as barbecued chicken, Korean barbecued beef, or stuffed pork tenderloin. If you have never tried Grenache ours can be very much like a Good fruity Pinot Noir: very silky and smooth in your mouth.
