When the Wind Blows

Captain Scott Childress of the Just Shoot Me details his life on the water.

In the business of commercial diving, the weather dictates when I can go offshore to work. When the wind is blowing too hard and the seas our too dangerous, I try to maximize my down time onshore and spend time with my family and friends. Fortunately, I live for the water: in it, on it, or under it. So, on a typical Sunday, we head to the lake for the day to party. We ride jet skis, water-ski, wakeboard, kneeboard, and sling each other around the lake on an inner tube. We grill out and barbeque, imbibe our favorite beverages and play Frisbee and Corn Toss. My crew and their families are almost always part of the festivities. Spending the day enjoying Mother Nature’s goodness and soaking up that Florida sunshine is a perfect way to recharge and be ready to dive when the calm seas come calling.
