Happy Birthday, Jay Z! (Enjoy The Whole Being Vegan Thing)

Jay Z turns 44 today and as of yesterday decided to embark on what he calls a spiritual and physical journey: he and Beyonce are going to be Vegan for 22 days until Christmas.

On his blog he wrote, "Psychologists have said it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. On the 22nd day, you’ve found the way. On December 3rd, one day before my 44th birthday I will embark on a 22 Days challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based!!"

He continues, "Why now? There’s something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas day…It just feels right!"

And then, to really keep us interested, he adds, "P.S. B is also joining me."

Aw, it's a a family cleanse! (You can check out the full blog post here.)

Let's get down to the facts. Jay Z and Beyonce are amazing and they can pretty much do whatever they want. However, let's just call this like it is, an ad.

At the conclusion of the post, Jay Z includes a link.

"I will let my friend Marco explain the benefits of a plant based diet here."

We clicked on the link and it took us to a website called 22daysnutrition.com where one can buy protein and energy bars and also follow Jay Z and Beyonce's diet for the next 22 days. Their slogan is "It takes 21 days to make or break a habit. With 22 days you've found the way." Oh...22 Days is the name of the company whose diet plan you are following. That makes a lot more sense than the whole 2+2=4 thing.

We've got to hand it to Beyonce and Jay, they are geniuses.

Anyway, Happy Birthday, Jay Z! Enjoy a few extra veggies today to celebrate! Or maybe a protein bar from 22 Days Nutrition? Just an idea.
