ICYMI: Introducing The New Miss USA

For the most part, TV programming during the summer is...no bueno. However, last night the Tony Awards, the Miss USA pageant and the NBA Finals were all on at the SAME TIME. It was insanity!

So let's talk about what is clearly the most important event of them all. Why was Karl Malone judging the Miss USA pageant?

Watching Miss USA is always full of highs and lows for the ol' self esteem.

Based on the Top 6 finalists, we knew one thing about the new Miss USA. She wasn't going to be blond. And apparently smiling is something only less attractive people do.

At the end of the night it was Miss Nevada who took home the crown. But not before offending women everywhere. During the interview portion of the competition, Miss Nevada was asked about the disturbing statistics about sexual assaults among college students and what colleges can do to combat that.

Here is her exact response:

"I believe that some colleges may potentially be afraid of having a bad reputation and that would be a reason it could be swept under the rug, because they don't want that to come out into the public. But I think more awareness is very important so women can learn how to protect themselves. Myself, as a fourth-degree black belt, I learned from a young age that you need to be confident and be able to defend yourself. And I think that's something that we should start to really implement for a lot of women."

In her defense, at least she didn't say "like such as" or "and uh the Iraq." In defense of women everywhere, should women really have to learn tae kwon do to feel safe walking around a college campus at night?

Does she look like she came straight from the cast of Pretty Little Liars? The rest of the questions and answers from the other finalists were all pretty expected. There was a lot of repeating the question in the form of a sentence to appear to have said something without actually expressing an opinion. Where were all the questions we REALLY wanted answered?

All in all, we learned a very important lesson here at Daily Rehash. We should spend more time outdoors.

JUST KIDDING. Instead we'll dedicated our TV watching to a whole bunch of other good looking physically fit people. The World Cup starts this week and we've got all the important facts you need to know before it begins.
