Aaron Lewis Asks For Forgiveness After He Botched Lyrics To Star-Spangled Banner

"And the brave were gallantly streaming with rockets red glare." -Aaron Lewis

The lead singer from the band Staind (yep, "it's been a while") made a big boo boo last night. Aaron Lewis sang the National Anthem at the World Series in San Francisco and messed up the words! After being teased mercilessly on social media, he asked for the nation's forgiveness.

All I can say is I'm sorry and ask for the Nation's forgiveness. My nerves got the best of me and I am completely torn up about what happened. America is the greatest country in the world. The Star-Spangled Banner means so much to so many, including myself. I hope everyone can understand the intensity of the situation and my true intent of this performance. I hope that the Nation, Major League Baseball and the many fans of our national pastime can forgive me.

We'll forgive Aaron for two reasons. He isn't the first person to do it. And let's get real, the Star-Spangled Banner is a little tricky. And we're a pretty judgmental society so singing the nation's anthem on live TV in front of millions of people can be a little intimidating. Ok ok, we're just making excuses but we feel bad for the guy. His bands name is Staind. Should it be any surprise that he forgot a few words with a misspelled name like that?

Do you forgive Aaron? We mentioned that Aaron wasn't the first to screw up the national anthem. Christina Aguilera did it too, at the Super Bowl no less! Watch it again:
