Star Wars VII Cast Announced, We Lose Our Damn Minds

J.J. Abrams is getting the band back together!

They finally did it.

Lucasfilm finally announced the cast of Star Wars Episode VII today and honestly...it seems like it may have been worth the wait.

Here’s the good bit from the official announcement on StarWars.com:

“Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Osaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.”

Slashfilm pointed out Monday that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher were all spotted separately in London and an official Lucasfilm announcement was likely imminent and boom, here it is.

I don’t think anybody doesn’t want to see Han, Luke and Leia back in Star Wars. It will be so cool to see how those characters have aged, even though we’ve seen the actors do that in real life.

Of course, we get C3PO, R2-D2 and Chewbacca back too with Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew officially on board. So cool that J.J. is getting the old band back together.

Here at DweebCast, we are a bit bummed that Billy Dee Williams isn't coming back as Lando Calrissian. We had a little moment of silence.

Most interesting of the new castings: Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow and Adam Driver. I’m predicting (read: ‘speculating wildly’) that Serkis will play a CG motion-capture character of some kind, von Sydow will be some kind of evil politician or something and Driver will be the new Dark Lord of the Sith. Hell yeah.

Anyway, what do you think of the casting? Let us know in the comments below.
