Three Weird Things That Could Have Shown Up in Prisoner of Azkaban

We knew that one was a little off...

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was the first HP film not to be directed by Chris Columbus and, as such, there were quite a few differences. For one, we got to see Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the other people at Hogwarts wearing their normal clothes more. But Alfonso Cuarón, the movie's director, could have made things quite a bit more crazy for us. Thanks to IMDb, here are a few things that could have happened in the movie but didn't (thank goodness).

1. Eye Rain

Our boy Alfonso has an accent, so when he asked the art dudes and dudettes for rain that turned to ice when the Dementors showed up, they thought he wanted rain that turned to eyes. Did nobody question this decision? Or maybe they talked shit about him in the office for days while they painstakingly tried to make rain turn into human eyes. Anyway, they ended up showing it to him, and we just love to imagine his reaction in the moments before he figured out what had gone wrong. But, hey, Dementors are scary, and so is eye-rain, so maybe it could have worked...

2. Finger People

There are quite a few HP fans out there who have total freak outs over every difference between the books and the movies. Well, hate to break it to you guys, but Alfonso Cuarón never read the books. Poor guy. Anyway, he thought he'd add a few fun touches to the magical world, like little Borrowers-style people all over Hogwarts. He loved the idea of having them jump around on piano keys to play a song. We can just see him pitching that idea. "Get it? It's like your fingers, but instead it's people. It's so-" NOPE. Get out, take a lap, drop and give me seven, because you can't do that to Hogwarts. Sorry, my friend. We have standards.

3. Puppet Dementors

This one isn't quite as strange as the others, but it's still funny to think about. When Alfie (can we call you Alfie? We're gonna call you Alfie.) was figuring out the logistics of having all those Dementors around, his first idea was to do them as puppets. How would that even work? Remote controlled, maybe? Or would it be more Harry Potter Puppet Pals style? (Just kidding.) Anyway, whatever he had in mind didn't work, as they scrapped the idea later. Oh, what could have been.

Alf (it's Alf now), you know we still love you and of course we love Prisoner of Azkaban. What did you guys think of this movie? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @DweebCast.
