Warner Bros. Moves 'Batman v Superman' Release Date. Again.

DC & Marvel played chicken. DC lost.

It’s not like we all didn’t see this coming.

The Wrap reported today that Warner Bros. just moved the release date for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice to March 25 2016. This means DC Comics’ first movie since 2013’s Man of Steel will no longer go head-to-head with Marvel’s Captain America 3.

Prior to the move, both films were set to release on May 6, 2016.

This marks the second time Warner Bros. has shifted release dates for its huge superhero tentpole film. When first announced, Dawn of Justice was set for a July 2015 release. The studio announced in January that the film would be pushed to 2016.

Warner Bros. also announced on Wednesday the release dates for nine untitled DC Comics films, stretching through summer of 2020.

Here are those release dates, according to the studio:

Untitled DC Film:08/05/2016
Untitled DC Film:06/23/2017
Untitled DC Film:11/17/2017
Untitled DC Film:03/23/2018
Untitled DC Film:07/27/2018
Untitled DC Film:04/05/2019
Untitled DC Film:06/14/2019
Untitled DC Film:04/03/2020
Untitled DC Film:06/19/2020

No word yet on how many of these films will include/rely upon Batman and/or Superman, but I'd be willing to bet a new stand-alone Batman trilogy lives somewhere on that list. Keep in mind that Joseph Gordon Levitt is supposed to produce & star in an adaptation of Sandman and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has all but confirmed he'll be playing Shazaam at some point.

Of course we now know the Batman v Superman movie’s official title, but a we were still in the dark a few months ago when we made this DweebCast episode, speculating on Batman v Superman’s official title.

So what do you think of the latest release date change? Did Warner Bros. & DC just lose in an epic game of superhero chicken? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @DweebCast.
