The Boxtrolls, Graham Annable & Anthony Stacchi 2014

It's the story of an orphaned boy who is raised by Fish the cave-dwelling Boxtroll. The Boxtrolls are naughty, dirty rascals that eat bugs, they're also funny and cute and you kind of want to cuddle them. Of course there are lessons and messages embedded throughout, but even with the formulaic template it mostly succeeds.
My six-year-old niece said "it was boring and then it got nice." Do with that information what you will. Ok for grandma or anyone else with a kid in tow.
