Fair warning: I am that person who complains without offering a solution. I simply don’t understand why so many animated movies have to suck so badly. Sure, there are exceptions (anything by Miyazaki, Iron Giant, Toy Story blah blah) and Rio 2 isn’t the worst movie I have ever seen, but it’s not far from it. Formulaic? Check. Stabs us in the heart with a message? Check. Sarcastic, misfit sidekicks? Check. You might say to me, “If you don’t like the way it’s being done go do it better yourself!” I am not a director, nor am I trying to succeed in Hollywood. I just think it’s sad that most of these feels like the same regurgitated, sugarcoated junk.
Let Grandma take the kid and you skip it.
