A couple with a newborn moves next door to a frat house...

Neighbors, Nicholas Stoller 2014

A couple with a newborn moves next door to a frat house - two GENRES that do not mix – it’s like blending Animal House with Kramer vs Kramer.  Trying to tell an adult story while also pandering to the lowest common denominator doesn’t work, or at least it didn’t here.  The jokes are moronic and forced, Seth Rogen is flat and unoriginal and it’s boring.  Zac Efron is, I must admit, great on screen and the best thing by far about this film, but that’s not saying much.  I literally chuckled a few times and even that felt generous.

I don’t understand any of the good reviews and can’t recommend this movie to grandma, the kid, or anyone else with a pulse.
