Nicole Scherzinger talks working with Simon Cowell on ‘The X Factor,’ and how Disney – criticized for whitewashing cultural storylines – got its depiction of Polynesian culture in ‘Moana’ right. Plus, the triple threat on how ‘Hamilton’ changed her life.

Pop singer Nicole Scherzinger joins Larry King in anticipation of her upcoming film “Moana,” in which she voices Sina, the mother of the titular lead character. Scherzinger fought hard for the role, as it was a dream of hers to participate in a Disney film, especially one that speaks to her own Hawaiian heritage. She also gives a glimpse into how she adjusted her recording techniques for her first voice acting role, from the type of nuance she conveyed in her vocalizations to the experience of having cameras set up all around during the recording sessions.

Later, Larry King asks “The X-Factor” judge about her tenure on the show, as she moves into her fourth season. She speaks highly of fellow judge Simon Cowell, and how she has managed to adopt London as her second home. Scherzinger also relives her life before fame, including a childhood in Louisville, KY that was filled with little money but an abundance of love.

Finally, singer and actress Nicole Scherzinger discusses the various legends that she has had a chance to work with over the year. The former Pussycat Doll relates the experience of collaborating with “Moana” songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the influence that “Hamilton” has had on the type of work she pursues. She talks about performing with Operatic legend Andrea Bocelli. She also pays tribute to her late friend Prince, whom she says both challenged inspired her.
