Are millennials less gritty than other generations?

Psychologist and grit expert Angela Duckworth – who wrote ‘Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance’ – explains that millennials tend to be less gritty than any other adult generation, but says it isn’t for the reason you might think.

Larry King: Millennials get a bad rap for being lazy can you characterize a whole group?

Angela Duckworth: In my data Millennials are at the bottom of the grit scale compared to adults of any other age.

Larry King: Why?

Angela Duckworth: I think it's because they're young. I don't actually think it's because they grew up with Instagram and, you know, cat videos. I think that the idea that the Millennials are different from where we were when we were in our twenties and we didn't know what we

wanted to do and we didn't know how to work hard and we didn't realize that good things take a long time and a lot of effort. I think that the major problem with Millennials is they haven't grown up yet.
