What would you ask Marcia Gay Harden?
- Apr 24 '18
Larry King: And you’re going to be in Steven Spielberg's movie about the pentagon papers?
Alison Brie:Yeah.
Larry King: I interviewed all the people involved in that.
Alison Brie: I should pick your brain after this.
Larry King: Who are you going to play?
Alison Brie: Um, I play Lally Weymouth -Katherine Graham's daughter.
Larry King: Knew her well. I know her well. Knew Katherine Graham well.
Alison Brie: Oh my gosh. The pressure!
Larry King: I was with Lally Weymouth at five or six New Year's Eve at Katherine Graham’s house.
Alison Brie: Oh wow! I heard they were great parties.
Larry King:They were the best. I danced with Colin Powell.
Alison Brie: Oh my gosh! ( laughs)
Larry King: Me and Colin…What was... Did you audition for Steven?
Alison Brie: I did, yes. I went in for an amazing casting director Ellen Louis, in New York. Well so I didn’t audition directly for Steven. I audition for Ellen Louis on tape, and she couldn’t have been lovelier. I read for two different roles in the film, and a week later I got a call that I had a meeting set with Steven Spielberg; which was a very unreal phone call, sort of like a dream experience, and I went in and met with Steven and he couldn't have been lovelier. I was very nervous.
Larry King: Did Lally Weymouth play a significant part in the pentagon papers? Weknow of her.
Alison Brie: You know, I think she was a source of support and encouragement for her mother at the time. And that’s what’s reflected in the film.
Larry King: Who plays Katherine Graham? Meryll Streep?
Alison Brie: Yeah.
Larry King: Wow, and who does Tom Hanks play?
Alison Brie: He plays Ben Bradlee, the Editor and Chief.
Larry King: One of my closest friends. Wow.
Alison Brie: Wow!
Larry King: Where are they shooting?
Alison Brie: We’re shooting in New York.
Larry King: Not in Washington?
Alison Brie: No, because it’s a lot of interiors. I’m sure they’ll shoot some exteriors in Washington. It’s a lot of movie magic in play here.
Larry King: That should be great. It’s going to be called ‘The Pentagon Papers’?
Alison Brie: It’s called ‘The Papers’.
