Addressing Transgender Issues At A Young Age

The NBC story of a family supporting their young daughter's transition to becoming a boy at age five has garnered a significant amount of attention this week. Newsbreaker reported on the story today:

Transgender issues are coming to the forefront, helped by TV series like Amazon's Transparent and the upcoming Diane Sawyer interview with Bruce Jenner, who is the process of transitioning to female. In a panel discussion earlier this year with Larry King Now, representatives from GLAAD joined trans activist and musician Laura Jane Grace and actor Alex Newell to talk about the issues trans people face. 

"You can still be fired in 32 states, simply for being transgender," Nick Adams from GLAAD shared with Larry King Now. "It's not a sex thing, it's a gender thing," Grace adds. In the conversation below, learn more about being transgender in America and how attitudes towards trans people are shifting.
