Who Doesn't Love a Good Rap Battle?!

A primer on the summer's most controversial rap battle between Drake and Meek Mill.

By Shira Brown

Nothing injects pure energy and excitement into the week like a rap battle. Luckily for us, Drake and Meek Mill have given us a great one this time -- albeit one sided. To top it off, one of our favorite LKN guests- (and my homie!) Charlamagne tha God, managed get thrown into the middle of it.

For those of you having trouble following along, here's the breakdown of the summer's most confusing tiff:

About a week ago Meek called out Drake on Twitter, claiming he uses ghost writers to create his song lyrics.

So Drake responded with his first diss record, Charged Up. Meek teased on Twitter that he had a response record that would air exclusively with Funkmaster Flex, of radio station Hot 97 in NYC, but that never happened.

This left Drake wide open to drop his second diss track, Back to Back. This is where our guy Charlamagne comes in. In the song, Drake has a line saying "you gon make me buy bottles for Charlamagne" and he actually did it. Looks like Drake wants to make nice with the radio personality, who hasn't been shy about calling him out in the past. A smart move on his part!

Check out Charlamagne's Instagram post of his gift from Drake-

Also, check out Charlamagne's interview with Larry King, where they talk about everything from the state of rap, to homophobia and why he wants to vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
