An (unfortunately) common occurrence in today’s society: another seemingly harmless tweet has turned into a sordid ordeal between Kanye West and ex-girlfriend, Amber Rose. Also taking part in this unfolding drama is Rose’s ex-husband, rapper Wiz Khalifa, and - as with many unsavory stories today - Kim Kardashian plays the role of supporting actress.
It was shortly after West announced his decision to rename his upcoming album "Waves" (formerly known as "Swish”) that Khalifa aired his displeasure on Twitter, first tweeting “Please don't take the wave,” and minutes later adding, "Max B is the wavy one. He created the wave. There is no wave without him.” The remark refers to currently incarcerated hip-hop artist Max B, who popularized what is known as “the wave movement,” a melodic, lo-fi type of rap music. It is unclear if Max B, currently serving a 75-year long prison sentence, took any offense at Kanye's album name change, but as often is the case, the tragic spectacle that is a twitter feud quickly changed its course.
Interpreting the ensuing tweet that Khalifa wrote ("Hit this kk and become yourself”) to be an insult directed toward his wife Kim Kardashian, West retaliated in what has now become the customary less-than-congenial, Kanye-West-like manner. Getting personal, he made comments about Wiz’s former marriage to Amber Rose and the latter’s past history working as a stripper.
Cue Rose. The model fired back by sharing some private details about West’s alleged sexual preferences to her 3.4 million Twitter followers, an audience considerably amplified by thousands of retweets. West has since vehemently denied the claims and deleted some of his earlier tweets about Rose and Khalifa.
Will the involved parties bury the hatchet or is this only the beginning? Only time will tell.
