Sophie Turner: GOT's Next Season Will Be new Start for Sansa

The actress reveals that Sansa will finally get the "storyline that you’ve been craving."

It’s been a difficult road for Sansa Stark, Sophie Turner's character on HBO's hit show "Game of Thrones." She’s repeatedly found herself in some of the most unfortunate circumstances on the series. But Sansa might be in for a well deserved break in the upcoming season. The new report comes straight from Turner herself, as Entertainment Weekly interviewed the actress during Friday’s SAG Awards Party. "I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa, it’s probably her best season yet. It’s her really coming into her own," said Turner.

Sophie Turner: Season six will see new start for Sansa
Last we saw of Sansa, she and Theon Greyjoy (played by Alfie Allen) escaped captivity at Winterfell (now under the rule of the sadistic Ramsay Bolton) by jumping off the castle wall and plunging into the snow covered ground. While her fate was unclear to say the least, we can now breathe easy knowing she has survived the fall. Still alive — which is uncommon for a Stark! — it appears she's now ready to fight for her life and her freedom. Who knows — maybe it’s up to Sansa to take back Winterfell from her estranged husband. Will Petyr Baelish continue to play an important part in Sansa’s development? Can Sansa forgive Theon his past actions? So many unanswered questions...but what’s clear is that Sansa has finally become a strong, independent woman in her own right.
But the eldest of the remaining Stark siblings isn’t the only one who’s in for a major character change. Turner promised the new season will be the best yet, granting avid viewers the surprises and shocking turns that they have become so accustomed to. She also expressed a personal interest and curiosity in the development of Theon’s character. "I mean this season there’s like so many shocks, it’s massive,” said Turner. “It’s the biggest season yet. And just like in terms of character development, so many people’s storylines, I’m so excited for. I’m so excited to see Alfie’s one this season. It’s going to be good.”

Regrettably, fans will have to wait a few months to get the answers they seek. "Game of Thrones" will return to HBO on April 8th. Until then all we can do is speculate. What do you think — could Sansa be the flag-bearer the Stark household has been waiting for?

See what Sean Bean had to say about the upcoming "Game of Thrones" season when he appeared on "Larry King Now!" The actor, who portrayed Ned Stark, Sansa's father, on the series, sounds off on what makes the show so exciting, and what he knows about the fate of Jon Snow.
