Tonight, American Idol — a global pop-culture staple — will say goodbye after 15 years on FOX.  The show has produced some of music's most successful contemporary acts, including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood & Jennifer Hudson.

At this evening's grand finale, Clarkson, Underwood and other past stars like Fantasia & David Cook will perform.  Hosts Jennifer Lopez & Harry Connick Jr. will also take the stage.

Longstanding host Ryan Seacrest shared his thoughts on the show's departure and his personal future, telling The Today Show, "nothing will replace ["Idol"] but I'm looking forward to the possibility of what might be next."  Seacrest, of course, has built a media empire beyond his Idol duties.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 8 P.M. ET on FOX, as La'Porsha Renae and Trent Harmon square off for the show's final title.
