New York, NY (July 16th 2014) – Multi-platform network Ora.TV (www.ora.tv) and Larry King have received a nomination for the popular global series “Larry King Now,” for the prominent 35th Emmy® Awards. The show stands out as the only digital show to be nominated in the Outstanding News Discussion and Analysis category.
The series by the legendary talk show host launched in 2012 and marked King’s first move into digital. His ground breaking show, produced by Ora.TV, gained tremendous attention, delivering compelling interviews with such luminaries as Oprah Winfrey, Ashton Kutcher, Bill Maher, Seth MacFarlane, the Dalai Lama, Matthew McConaughey, Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford, Melissa McCarthy, and Steve Carell, among many others. King became one of the first broadcasters to tackle the web, creating a program highlighting King’s trademark in depth conversations and fascinating voices and merging the best of TV with the flexibility and interaction of the Internet.
The News & Documentary Emmy Awards selected “Larry King Now’s” episode titled “Head Trauma in the NFL” as the nominee in this elite category. This episode, in which King and his featured panelists talk about the growing issue of head trauma and player safety in the NFL, is credited with helping advance the nationwide discussion of safety in professional sports, and is nominated alongside such industry leaders as CNN, CBS, American Public Television and PBS. The episode was directed by Scott Brown, with Executive Producers Allison Glader and Jason Rovou, Senior Producer Malavika Gangolly, Senior Editorial Producer David Theall and Producers Serena Brahney, Ben Monie.
“Being honored as the only digital series in this category makes me feel extremely proud of the content we are producing and the way in which we are reaching our audience,” said Larry King. “Our goal has always been to discuss the topics that matters most, and this nomination proves that we are doing just that.”
“Larry is such an iconic and influential broadcaster, with such a strong voice that continues to impact members of this generation” said Jon Housman, CEO of Ora.TV. “This nomination celebrates the incredible conversations that Larry creates on the show, and also recognizes the great team we have, led by Jason Rovou and Allison Glader. We are extremely excited to be a part of this year’s Emmy Awards.”
