Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Spyros Panos of Poughkeepsie, NY pleaded guilty last week to charges of false and overstated medicare and medicaid charges. He faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. According to court transcripts, the doctor claimed to have performed thousands of surgeries he never carried out. Hundreds of civil cases are still pending against the Doctor, whose malpractice endangered hundreds of patients.
