BREAKING: New Details in Gun Battle with Armed Suspects in San Bernardino, CA

The names of the 14 victims of Wednesday's mass shooting in San Bernardino, CA are expected to be released later today.  Meanwhile, police say the number of wounded has risen to 21.

During a press conference, Police Chief Jarrod Burguan confirmed 12 pipe bomb devices were found inside the Redlands, CA home of the suspect Syed Rizwan Farook, a US citizen and environmental specialist with the county health department and his Pakistani born wife Tashfeen Malik.

The Chief said Farook left a holiday party at the Inland Regional Center angry and returned with Malik.  The two were dressed in heavy armor and carried assault rifles.  After they were trackeddown, thanks to a tip, the couple fired 76 rounds in a bloody gun battle with police.  Two officers were injured in the battle.  Police say Farook, a Muslim, had no criminal record and there is no known motive however there are reports he had become recently radicalized online.

BREAKING UPDATE (4:25 pst): Police have a home surrounded where a third suspect may be hold up.  One officer taken to the hospital with minor injuries after they were hit by a ricocheted bullet.

Witness accounts say the shootout started when the SUV stopped in the middle of the road and a gunman got out and opened fire on police.  

BREAKING UPDATE (3:28pm pst):  One suspect is down, another in custody, and a black SUV is riddled with bullets after a police shootout.  Unclear yet if it is connected to the mass shooting, however a long gun has been found at the scene.  Police right now are slowly approaching the vehicle.  The scene is active and there is a foot pursuit with another suspect.

The death toll remains at 14 while the number injured has risen from to 17 after a mass shooting happened in San Bernardino,. CA, 60 miles east of Los Angeles.  

Police also confirmed that up to three armed suspects are on the loose.  The shooting happened at a state run regional center for people with disabilities.

It happened just before noon. Police, FBI and ATF were called to the scene.  A triage area was quickly set up with some victims being carried away in the back of pickup trucks.

Reports are the suspects, wearing body armor, entered the facility carrying long guns and opened fire.  CNN has also reported that the suspects may have left a "package" of some sort behind.  The suspects then fled the scene in a black SUV.  There is no known motive for the attack at this time.

A White House spokesman says President Obama was briefed by a Homeland Security Advisor Lisa Monaco and asked to be updated as the situation develops.

Right now (12:44pm PST) buildings surrounding the scene of the shooting are on lockdown with everyone being told to shelter in place.
