Camelopardalids Meteor Shower Hitting Earth For The First Time

Get your blankets and head outside this Friday night!

The massive meteor storm is currently hurtling towards Earth, expected to produce more shooting stars than the Perseid meteor shower last August. It comes from the faint Camelopardalis constellation in the northern sky and the remains of newly-discovered comet 209/LINEAR. And the spews of dust you'll be seeing? First released by the stars in the 1800s. Woah.

There is, however, still chance for the show to bust. If the comet doesn't stay active, it's possible little activity could be seen. So cross your fingers and head outside, the show starts at 10:30 p.m. Friday.
