Oregon is expunging marijuana violations from citizens’ records. Portland’s Metropolitan Public Defender’s office will run “expungement clinics” to forever seal records of past pot crimes.
Wonderful!
When I was the Governor of Minnesota, I, along with Supreme Court Justice Kathleen Batson and Attorney General Mike Hatch, expunged many marijuana records. I ran into that all the time. People came to us that got caught 25 years ago with a bag of pot, and it was still interfering with their lives today. I’m happy to say that we were able to help these people get their lives back.
Other states should look to follow Oregon’s lead. Let’s give power back to the states to control marijuana. Get the Federal Government out of it completely.
