After Robert Lewis Dear shot 11 people, killing 3, at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood, Republican congressman and Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Michael McCaul, told ABC News, “I don’t think it would fall under quite the definition of domestic terrorism. It’s a tragedy. It’s, I think, a mental health crisis.”
What he did was certainly an act of terrorism. When you’ve got deranged people like this to begin with, it doesn’t take much to set them off. This guy was obviously inspired by the rhetoric and untrue statements about what goes on at Planned Parenthood and this was the consequence.
I also find it interesting that none of the Republican candidates that issued statements seem to want to mention Planned Parenthood by name. Hmm… I wonder why.
