Time Snubs Bernie Sanders For Person of the Year

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders won the online poll for Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, beating out other favorites such as Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai and Pope Francis. But Time still snubbed him, failing to include him as one of their eight finalists for the magazine.

Sure, Bernie Sanders may have won the online poll for Person of the Year by Time.com’s readers’ poll by a margin of nearly 5%, earning 10.2% of the votes.

He even beat out some of the most influential people in world for the coveted title, including Pakistani girls’ education activist Malala Yousafzai, in second place at 5.2%, and Pope Francis, in third with 3.7%.

The only other U.S. politician in the top 5 was Barack Obama, with 3.5% of the online votes. Other 2016 candidates trailed behind, including Donald Trump at 1.8% and Hillary Clinton at 1.4%.

And yet, Time didn't include him as one of their eight finalists. Instead, they went with Donald Trump, Caitlyn Jenner, and ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi. The official "Person of the Year" will be revealed tomorrow morning, on the TODAY Show.
