We're #1 when it comes to paying for our airport security, but the TSA hasn't improved security since 2009 -- even though we gave them over $550 million to do so.
Are you traveling anytime soon? Well, while you're taking off your shoes, your belt, going through the new and improved body screener (microwave) or getting frisked by a TSA agent, this should make you feel safe:
According to ABC News, an "internal investigation of the Transportation Security Administration revealed security failures at dozens of the nation’s busiest airports."
Ninety-five percent of the time, undercover investigators were able to smuggle mock explosives or weapons through checkpoints. Nationwide, TSA agents failed 67 out of 70 tests.
ABC News reports:
In addition, the review determined that despite spending $540 millionfor checked baggage screening equipment and another $11 millionfor training since a previous review in 2009, the TSA failed to make any noticeable improvements in that time.
Nice use of taxpayer money? All that added security to keep you safe...or an illusion of safety and security...
Remember the TSA is both a regulatory and security agency - meaning its officials get to make their own rules. Not even the FBI gets to do that! Don't you think they'd be able to pass the tests, since they set their own parameters?
What do you think of the TSA? Sound off below!
