#NYCPride: Annual March Celebrates New York City's LGBT Community

With rainbow neckerchiefs and special badges, the Boy Scouts of America celebrated pride and progress at the New York City Pride Parade.

According to the New York Times:

Neat rows of uniformed Boy Scouts carried the flags of all 50 states near the head of the parade. The flags were to be sent back to gay activist groups in each state with a certificate: Each flag, it would say, had marched in the oldest gay pride parade of all.

They had come to mark progress: the Boy Scouts of America’s breakthrough vote last year ended a decades-old policy of prohibiting openly gay youths from being scouts.
