New Wisconsin sports arena will take $250 million from taxpayers and state university program budget
According to Salon, Governor Scott Walker is planning on giving millions in taxpayer money to sports owners to pay for a new sports arena for the Milwaukee Bucks. Many are criticizing the governor for this decision stating that taxpayer money should be used to help fix roads and bridges that are in poor condition.
Walker claims that the arena will help revitalize the community and help the economy. Although, studies have shown that building a new stadium would have almost no economic benefits.
The Wisconsin Senate voted 21-10 last month in favor of the stadium and agreed to put up $250 million of the $450 needed to build it. The money will come from taxpayers and the state university program.
