Bureau of Labor Statistics said that in 2014, roughly 1.7 million U.S. workers - two thirds of whom were women - were illegally paid less than the federal minimum of $7.25 per hour.Other studies put the number higher.

When it comes to minimum wage: if you work a forty-hour workweek you should be able to make enough money, regardless of what you do. You should not have to be subsidized one penny by government. That should be our goal.

They violate the minimum wage all the time. Hell, half the migrant workers don’t even get paid minimum wage to pick our fruit for us. Yet, we want to ban them from coming and doing it. Then they’re going to send you to do it.

Imagine when there’s no more immigrants to pick those strawberries and you have to go out and do it for minimum wage. Maybe then people will realize the struggles that come with minimum wage.
