There have been many presidents affiliated with different religions and only 3 with no affiliation. Would you vote for an Atheist president?
Almost every President of the United States has been affiliated with a religion with only three — Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson — having been unaffiliated with a specific religious tradition.
According to the Pew Research Center, here are the numbers of presidents that have represented these religions:
11 – Episcopalian
8 – Presbyterian
4 – Baptist
4 – Unitarian
3 – No Formal Affiliation
2 – Disciples of Christ
2 – Dutch Reform
2 – Quaker
1 – Catholic
1 – Congregationalist
1 – United Church of Christ
