The Pentagon is considering retroactively demoting retired U.S. General David Petraeus, after he pled guilty to providing classified information to his biographer and mistress.
Lindsay Graham and John McCain, among others, blasted the possibility of Petraeus' demotion.
My thoughts: it’s mucha do about nothing.
It’s a military decision. I’ve never seen them hold any high-ranking officers’ feet to the fire.
Now, granted, he was a person of power. I would be interested to see if the military will consider this action, because it doesn’t typically happen to those in positions of power. It does however happen to lower-ranking officers.
I’d much prefer, on the other hand, that they investigate our government’s use of torture. They need to go up the line with that issue alone, and find out where the buck stops -- and, I guarantee you, the buck stops at the White House.
