The Governor takes on the GOP regarding the issue of torture, following news that Donald Trump’s son, Eric, was reportedly dismissive of waterboarding in a recent interview with Greta Van Susteren on Fox News.
Certain Republican nominees have advocated for torture in time of war.
I find it very interesting that most of these presidential candidates are willing to go to war against ISIS. Yet none of them will be or have participated in actual warfare.
Eric Trump believes waterboarding happens every day on college campuses. That’s news to me, considering that the military has a doctor present when it’s administered.Put it this way, what happens on college campuses is probably not even remotely close to the waterboarding techniques employed by our government.
Eric Trump stated:
“You see these terrorists that are flying planes into buildings, right? You see our cities getting shot up in California. You see Paris getting shot up. And then somebody complains when a terrorist gets waterboarded, which quite frankly is no different than what happens on college campuses and frat houses every day. And, you know, the man would keep this country safe. There is no question about it.”
If we waterboard, we won’t get planes flying into the towers? Is that what he’s saying?
Before anyone else makes a comment advocating to waterboard, they should be waterboarded themselves. Fair enough? They should have to experience it. Everyone of them. They are in no position to talk about it if they have never experienced it.
Put them through it on TV. Let’s make it like the Superbowl. I’d like to watch it. I’d like to watch these candidates' reactions. Let’s see if they continue to believe it’s no big thing as they’re gagging, and choking, and puking. Let’s see if they can keep a secret. Let’s see if they’ll lie just to stop the torture.
I’d like to turn my famous Cheney quote and apply it to these pro-torture candidates: “You give me a waterboard, these candidates, and one hour, and I’ll have them all confess to the Sharon Tate murder.”
They all would. They would all confess to it.
