According to NBC News, CIA Director John Brennan stated that they will not engage in enhanced interrogation, including waterboarding, even if ordered to by a future president.  "I will not agree to carry out some of these tactics and techniques I've heard bandied about because this institution needs to endure," the Director said.

Well, good for him.

But I’ll follow it up with this: we should take it one step further and prosecute the people who did torture. This should go all the way to the top.  It’s still a war crime.  You just can’t enforce laws when they’re convenient for you, you have to have enforce laws when they don’t fit your platform as well.

This has put a blemish on our country and we’ll never be able to wash it off completely.

The fact that an entire presidential administration -- Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld -- were okay with torture and allowed it to happen means that they are all war criminals.

Those that are pro-torture, or don’t consider waterboarding torture, have obviously never been through it themselves.  They don’t have any idea of what they’re talking about.

If the people of the United States are going to elect a president who openly admits they will perform war crimes, then I will hang my head in shame.

It’s not the country I was born in and it's certainly not the one I want to die in.
