According to NASA, global sea level rose about 17 centimeters (6.7 inches) in the last century.  All three major global surface temperature reconstructions show that Earth has warmed since 1880.  And the EPA claims that in 2014 alone, CO2 accounted for about 80.9% of all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions from human activities.  But there’s hope: for the first time in three years, First Solar Inc., a producer of solar panels, is making panels for less than China’s biggest producer, justifying more than $3 billion in loan guarantees from the U.S. government, according to Bloomberg News. Is it time to start looking to alternate energy sources to save our green planet?  The Governor sounds off.

I’ll beat the drum again.

Let's be the country that's known for looking into the future, not looking back to the past.  Let’s no longer rely on an ancient energy source that we should be getting rid of.

It's time to end our dependence on oil and place our money towards new energy sources that are clean, renewable and can impact our future.  Look ahead!  Not behind!  Oil is in the rearview mirror.

Energy dependency is a crucial issue.

We need to pass significant laws, that implement new alternative energy sources, such as solar, into our infrastructure.  For example, let’s make it a requirement to incorporate solar into new constructions.  Let’s make it so solar panels are required for any new for energy sources in new buildings.  Put it right into the price of the home.

Let’s clean our planet up.  Let’s use the sun.  According to scientists, the sun’s good for another 5 billion years. It’s got a long way to go.  I think we can use it to our advantage for some time.  We have a free energy source sitting right up there; we see it everyday.  All we have to do is be vigilant, advance our technology, and figure out how best to use it.  If we can send people to the moon, we should be able to figure out how to have solar energy sources, no?

Nothing should be standing in the way of people being self-sufficient in regards to energy sources.  Americans everywhere should have the support to do so from our own government.
