How the media ruined free speech by peddling acts of terrorism…

The media sinks to levels lower than the most ruthless of criminals. They've outdone themselves by finally destroying the freedom of expression they claim to defend.Sony Pictures was recently hacked by a group called The Guardians of Peace. They stole thousands of private documents and emails creating a massive breach of security. They threatened a violent act of terror if Sony released, "The Interview," a film featuring a premise where two nitwits are sent to kill Kim Jong Un.A film that clearly lacks the creative subtlety of great satire such as "Dr Strangelove," or any Paddy Chayefsky script, which very eloquently hold a mirror up to society without banging us over the head with it.

The Guardians of Peace lit the fire, but the flames were stoked by none other than the media.Instead of reporting on the act and protecting private information, the media decided to share it, essentially acting in “cahoots” with The Guardians of Peace. The pandemonium created by this mess lead to the ultimate offense on our First Amendment. Sony has pulled the film from release and has no plans to release it in any form.

By canceling the release of this film, Sony sealed the fate of our freedom of expression... And to the rest of the world we look like scared, scrambling cowards. Censorship aside, this film should've never been made because of its lack of creative integrity. The filmmakers chose to take the cheap shot route. Finally, the media should be ashamed of itself. By taking an act of terrorism and turning it around for a profit, they've once again sunk to levels even the most ruthless of terrorists can’t imagine.

Aaron Sorkin wrote a brilliant op-ed in The New York Times, I will leave you with the following passage:

If you close your eyes you can imagine the hackers sitting in a room, combing through the documents to find the ones that will draw the most blood. And in a room next door are American journalists doing the same thing. As demented and criminal as it is, at least the hackers are doing it for a cause. The press is doing it for a nickel.
