Jesse Ventura's Off The Grid:Vigilant News
On Pete Seeger's Legacy 1919 - 2014
IN HIS OWN WORDS: Jesse Ventura says Pete Seeger was the original voice of protest. jwplayer. jwplayer("sound"). flashplayer: "https://www. file: "https://s3. height: 25, width: 300, controlbar: "bottom" }); Pete Seeger A man who not only used music to bring the world together, but a man of great integrity, a true activist who popularized the phrase "We Shall Overcome. A man who was involved and deeply embedded in the civil rights movement, the anti-war movement of the 60s, and even Occupy Wall Street. A man who embodied what it means to be a true American: to stand up for what you believe is right, and to stand up for the rights of others. Thank you to the vigilant man who influenced and inspired so many generations to do the right thing. As this great man implied, words inspire but actions speak louder than words.
Broadcasting from Off The Grid
MONDAY marks the premiere of my online show “Off The Grid” on Ora. Many people have asked me, “Governor, what made you decide to do an internet show? Well, when I was in New York on my book tour for DemoCRIPS and ReBLOODlicans: No More Gangs in Government, I was a guest on Larry King’s show “Politicking. The American people deserve to know more about what’s really going on in the world. Justin Bieber has no right to make the news. What’s going on in the Ukraine right now? The fact that the company responsible for two chemical spills in West Virginia’s drinking water is trying to skirt out of lawsuits by claiming bankruptcy? I’m filming my show from undisclosed locations that really are off the grid so no one can shut me down. For those who are my age and still remember “Radio Free America” – I’m broadcasting my show “Off The Grid” in much the same way. After the Iron Curtain fell over Soviet-dominated Eastern Europe, "Radio Free Europe" and "Radio Liberty" played a vital role in broadcasting news and opinion to people deprived of the truth by censorious governments. Much like broadcasting a radio show over the iron curtain into East Berlin, I’ll be broadcasting the truth over the iron curtain that is mainstream media into occupied America. This also gives me a unique perspective about the news because I’m not tainted by what’s going on in the states. I’m excited to hear your opinions on the controversial topics I plan on covering. And if you want to join in on the conversation, I’ll be answering your questions in a segment called #AskJesse – you can call in anytime on (210) 80-AskJV to ask me anything. I’ve never enjoyed any job more in my life than the one I have now. Until next time, stay vigilant. Peace, Gov. #StayVigilant
In the Media
The Civil Rights Movement of 2014
I know I usually have something new to say, but in this instance, my opinions haven’t changed since this video. TODAY, I can’t help but think about civil liberties. The Civil Rights movement was a nonviolent revolution in our country, and if you were alive to witness it, you’d know it was a grassroots movement that built momentum across our great nation. Today, we have come a long way, but we still haven’t come far enough to ensure all citizens receive equal rights, as stated under the 14th Amendment. The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness should be a guaranteed right for every ethnicity and every culture as well as every person, regardless of sexual orientation or preference. I think it’s easy for me to look at gay rights objectively because I’m an atheist. Those same Tea Party-types, who are always harping about how we need LESS Government, are actually the ones really pushing for MORE Government by trying to legislate what people can and can't do with their personal lives. I am asking the American people to be objective, to be fair, to do what’s right. Who gives you the right to decide for someone else who they can fall in love with? What gives the government the right to decide who can and can’t get married? Don’t deny people the right to live as the Bill of Rights and the Constitution intended us all to live: as equals. Peace, Gov. #StayVigilant
#EducateYourself
I'M STARTING this blog post with a question: Why did 3. Of all the shows on television, that's what you choose to watch? But people, we are part of the problem here. Everyone always asks me, "Governor, do you really live off the grid? The short answer is no, I'm never bored. But what I really look forward to is reading. I think it's incumbent upon all of us as American citizens to pay attention. I always aspire to live by simple quotes that everyone should heed. If you don't already know, find out who your elected officials are and look into what they stand for. So if you've already broken your New Year's resolution or you never got around to making one, make a commitment to educate yourself on what's really going on in our country. Peace, Gov. #StayVigilant
Edward Snowden is a Patriot
LAST WEEK, I posted an article on my Facebook page that discusses how The New York Times and The Guardian called for Edward Snowden’s clemency in an editorial. I felt compelled to post that article on Facebook because I have always believed Snowden was a patriot in every sense of the word. The mainstream media’s first reaction to a whistleblower, or anyone who brings to light something mainstream reporters don’t know, is to marginalize that person. Many of my fans commented on my Facebook post, stating that the call for clemency is a trap. BUT—what I would like to believe is that the reporters at The New York Times and The Guardian have finally opened their eyes. At the end of the day, Snowden’s conscience couldn’t live with what the NSA is doing, and that’s a big deal. Remember: just because it isn’t in the news anymore, that doesn’t mean it stopped. Clemency aside, make a pact to support Edward Snowden. The NSA doesn’t get any special privileges. Peace, Gov. #StayVigilant
Looking Back, Looking Ahead
Last week, mainstream media aired segments that looked back on the top stories of 2013. Often, when people “look back” they don’t connect the dots. Here's a look back, looking ahead...
A Holiday Message from Governor Jesse Ventura
This year, we should expand on our Season’s Greetings. This year, we should strive be something better. This year, instead of just being consumers, thinking about presents, we should focus on something bigger. This year, we should remember what an opportunity it is to live in a Democracy where your voice can be heard. This year, we should make a resolution to use that opportunity. This year, instead of planning a great New Year’s, let’s plan to become newly inspired. This year, make a resolution to be a conscientious, vigilant citizen. Don’t wait until 2014 – make this resolution today: Question our government. Question the media. Question the silence. Let’s use our time. Register to vote. Control them. In short, STAY VIGILANT.
