The State Department released a huge chunk of Hillary Clinton's personal emails...and boy do they deliver. Here's a selection of our favorites.

The emails shine a light on the fact that, hey, politicians are human too:

  • Hillary and Bill sometimes communicate through aides, so the New York Times reports: When Bill Clinton accepted the role of U.N. special envoy to Haiti, Hillary apparently wasn't aware until the news leaked. Doug Band, Bill Clinton's former adviser, wrote to Hillary's chief of staff to inform her, "WJC said he was going to call HRC but hasn’t had time.”  Hillary Clinton's chief of staff reportedly forwarded the email to another aide, “You need to walk this to HRC if she is not gone.”
  • Politico.com scooped this one up.  Clinton reportedly failed to schedule a phone call with John Podesta, current Chairman of the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. So she had to reschedule for the following morning apparently.  She offered Podesta this little piece of advice before bedtime: "Please wear socks to be to keep your feet warm."
  • And finally, some emails show Hillary Clinton may have had concerns about being left out of Obama's team.  The Washington Post's Anne Gearan and Colby Itkowitz report, Clinton emailed her aides: "I heard on the radio that there is a Cabinet mtg this am."  She continued, "Is there?  Can I go?  If not, who are we sending?"

Mostly though, the emails prove that Hillary Clinton's job as Secretary of State was not easy. And there's clear indication of self-awareness, as well as hints at a witty sense of humor.
