Happy #NationalPoetryDay!

Who better to hear poetry from today than the U.S. Poet Laureate?

By Hannah Kavy

It's #NationalPoetryDay folks! Since Larry King has interviewed pretty much everyone that you can think of, naturally he interviewed U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera on #PoliticKING. The U.S. Poet Laureate is someone who's officially appointed by the government to compose poems for special events and occasions... basically he's a BIG DEAL and he's really workin' that beige fedora if you ask me.

Best part of the interview- Juan writes a poem dedicated to Larry, obviously Larry starts cheesin' from ear to ear...

Even better part of the story, Juan Felipe Herrera is the first Latino person to be named the U.S. Poet Laureate which is amazing and makes me very happy. I can already guess what Larry would say about that... "it's about time!"

Juan Felipe Herrera's poem for Larry King:

It is the Vision Thru the Television

for Larry King, with admiration.

It is the vision

thru the television

that Larry King sees

well —sky, earthquake

geyser of the eye,that is,

the kiss —Marlon

Brando —in everyone

all of us that he sees —

before you see it

before we see it

but Larry sees it coming

then he asks you —

well —so what is

poetry?
