These forms are used to determine whether a person is trustworthy enough to be granted a clearance, such as “secret” or “top secret.” These forms--which can be up to 127 pages long--- detail every aspect of a person’s life. Where she was born. Her social security number. College roommates and every address she’s ever lived. Any drug use or arrests. Military service. You get the idea.
