Apparently, high ranking church officials didn't know in the 1980s that is was illegal for priests to have sex with children. Nor did they know that it was illegal for adults in general to have sex with children. Really though, can you blame them? The 80s were a pretty messed up time... (JK, we can blame them. And we do.)
