50 Shades of Grey fans are outraged when casting for the upcoming movie was announced and it was NOT who they expected.
Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam are feeling the same casting backlash that Ben Affleck felt last week when it was announced that he was cast as the new Batman. Except this time, people aren't just tweeting about it. Over 23,000 people have signed a petition on Change.org to have the movie re-cast with Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel as the new leads.
Dana Brunetti, who is directing the upcoming movie, weighed in on twitter.
There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc.— Dana Brunetti (@DanaBrunetti) September 2, 2013
According to the Hollywood Reporter, there were several actors considered before Hunnam and Johnson landed the roles including Ryan Gosling and Elizabeth Olsen.
