The Washington Post reports that police officers in the United States have shot and killed at least 500 people so far in 2015, according to a Washington Post analysis. While the FBI has never recorded more than 460 fatal police shootings in an entire year, The Post identified 463 such shootings in just the first six months of 2015.

It’s amazing that the death penalty can be rendered that often for crimes that don’t warrant it. That’s really the meat of the argument here: that people are being put to death for things that don’t warrant the death penalty.

I don’t know where to go on this, because clearly too many people are being shot and killed. Clearly the police have the right to defend themselves, but it’s being abused. Too many people are getting killed at the hands of the police. The statistics are MIND-BOGGLING.
