David Patraeus has finally been sentenced for leaking classified CIA information to his lover.
"In 2012, the F.B.I. opened a cyberstalking investigation after a friend of Mr. Petraeus’s reported to the authorities that she was receiving threatening messages from someone who appeared to know a lot about Mr. Petraeus’s whereabouts. It was later revealed that the person sending the messages was Paula Broadwell."
During that investigation, authorities learned about the CIA director's sharing of classified information and shortly afterward Petraeus resigned from his position. At the time, he denied the allegations but after his home was seized and eight "black" notebooks were taken, he was caught.
According to U.S.A Today,
"Petraeus pled guilty to one misdemeanor count of unauthorized removal and retention of eight highly secret black book binders that he had improperly retained from his time as top military commander in Afghanistan."
This sentence seems too lenient, considering the fact that CIA analyst and whistleblower on the CIA torture program, John Kiriakou, has served 30-months in prison for leaking classified information. Kiriakou will be featured in an upcoming episode of Off the Grid. In the meantime, check out the Governor's latest interview in the video below.
