Sgt Erica Hay is getting a lot of attention after a photo of her sharing a meal with a homeless man went viral.
Lately, it’s been easy to forget that there are still some amazing police officers serving their communities. With many news stories revolving around police brutality and shootings, it’s nice to hear something positive once in a while.
According to The Independent, Sgt Hay was caught on camera showing an act of kindness to a homeless man in Florida. She approached the man sitting on the curb and offered him a meal. She then sat down on the curb and had a conversation with him while enjoying her own meal.
TiAnna Greene, who captured the special moment, was so touched by the situation that she decided to share the post on Facebook praising the officer:
After being shared thousands of times, it found it’s way back to Sgt Erica Hay.
Sgt Hay told TODAY: “He was just there by himself alone, so I just grabbed food and went back to eat with him. Nobody wants to eat alone. Isolation is the worst part about being someone who is homeless. They’re isolated from everyone, and I think any type of interaction is a positive thing.”
