Doughnut chain Krispy Kreme (AKA “Crack”) opened its first South Australian chain on Port Road, with some customers queuing outside for days before the opening. Two teenagers arrived at the West Croydon Krispy Kreme store on Port Rd at 7.30pm, the drive through was closed so they parked in nearby Malcolm St. After two hours in the queue they returned to their car and that’s when the sugar tooth their struck. “He was pretty much saying ‘if you don’t give me the doughnuts now I’m going to stab you’.” The thief took the donuts but did not demand anything else. Because there is nothing more valuable than donuts. Police hope security video will help identify the suspect. The store manager Mark Higginbottom believes the robbery was an isolated incident, but he will be beefing up security just in case the donut bandit returns. He has promised to replace the stolen doughnuts, but the boys say they are too frightened to revisit the store. Can you blame them? Yes. Additional music by Kevin McLeod.
