9-year-old Jamyla was killed when an unknown assailant fired a gun at their home
Police are still searching for a gunman after a 9-year-old girl died of a gunshot in Ferguson, Missouri, as she sat in bed doing homework according to the family.
The young girl’s mother was also shot in the leg but is expected to make a full recovery. The home where the shooting occurred is only one block away from the Center For Protests in Ferguson.
The child's father urged anyone with information to come forward. "Do it for a 9-year-old child that didn't even get to see the rest of the world," James Bolden told KMOV.
Police still have no suspect in custody but in a news release, Ferguson Chief Andre Anderson said officials will "do everything possible to find the person responsible."
