Wild, Jean-Marc Vallee, 2014

As usual, unfortunately, the book is better. The girl I wholeheartedly rooted for in the novel doesn’t do it for me in the movie. Not sure this is Reese’s fault. She does a first rate, respectable job with what she has in this artistic, poetic minimalistic adaptation. I was bored, somewhat curious to see where it went, but mostly annoyed at the plodding pace and useless script. On the plus side though, the beauty of the landscapes and the scenery enthralled me.Maybe I’m the fool and that’s exactly what they were going for –the uncomfortable feeling you might get if you were the one trekking through thousands of miles to find yourself.

I suppose grandma could watch it if she doesn’t mind some quick flashes of sexy heroin times. The aforementioned heroin sex combo platter makes it not for kids.
