The Babadook, Jennifer Kent 2014

Other than a few super scary freaky moments this movie is more psychological torture than horror. The safe place of a children’s book is the plot vehicle, but it quickly becomes clear that the book isn’t for or about kids. The movie is ultimately about loss and coping and the director is able to use terror as her means of expression. It’s intimate and surprisingly deep and moving for a horror flick.

If you want to scare the shit out of both grandma and the kid, go for it.
